Hi teach what up? I read the essay and I have to say it is really long. I takes a lot of energy to concentrate on what Coover has to say. I do not understand what he means by: "dead as God"
This sounds funky and sort of frustrated me when I began reading. I think Coover is obssesed with hypertext and there is nothing wrong with that... However I personally believe too much emphasis and gratitude is given on this method of protraying literary work. I think literature should be left the way it is, books- literature on paper, are a traditional methods and ways in which the author of a work communicates with the readers and audience. It is neat the way texts can be re-arranged however there should always be some kind of structure present in the text.
I also do not understnad the "HOTEL" Coover talks about. The student he mentions rearranged the story where an alien and room 666 are introduced. I have read and written many lousy works but I think that is the lamest thing I have ever encountered...
Hypertext is literature in electronic format. This can sometimes discouraged readers who have no access to computers or who cannot afford one. Re-arranging hypertexts involves a long sitting period infront of the computer which can cause eye site problems.
I would like to stick to traditional books because you can take a book where every you want and read whenever you are bored. You can share a book with someone else adding to a person's social health.
